Your best year

Allow yourself to tune into your inner desires and dream

Take a moment and imagine it’s one year from now.

You look back and realise that this has been one of your best years. You became more of the person you wanted to be. You invested in the things that matter most. You spent less time drifting (T) and more time living intentionally.

Now ask yourself one question:

What would need to happen for that to become true?

That is what this section is about.

Many of us have ideas about the kind of life we want. We’d like stronger relationships, better, healthier habits, more purpose, greater wisdom, a deeper connection with Judaism, or simply to become a better version of ourselves. But there's a big difference between having ideas and painting a vivid picture or putting this into detailed words.

Taking the time to think through one's goals and highest priorities, at last for the year ahead may not guarantee they’ll happen—but it gives them a chance. Once you know what you're aiming for, it’s much easier to recognise the next step and make decisions that move you in the right direction.

That’s why these exercises are so so powerful and so worth doing.

You don’t need to have everything figured out. You don’t need to write the perfect answers. The goal is simply to start, to allow yourself to dream, to become a little clearer about the person you want to become and the year you want to create. And you can come back as often as you want to your Elultime Dashboard and add, edit and refine.

We’ve included a few different exercises because different exercises will resonate with different people. Each exercise approaches the same goal from a different angle.

If you’re only going to do one exercise, the recommendation is the simple “Hey Suzie!” exercise. It’s quick, powerful, practical and often gives people surprising clarity. We’ve included prompts to help you get started, but don’t feel you have to follow them exactly.

If you have more time and want to explore the other exercises there are 3 others that we have included:

  • Me, through Hashem's eyes - Explain this here
  • Looking back years from now, what would I be most grateful that I made time for and what would i most regret if I hadn't? - Explain this is doing a Hey Suzie but from the end of one's life
  • What do I truly yearn for? - Explain this here

Again,  there are no perfect answers. These exercises are simply the starting point so you can allow yourself dream to dream about what you truly want, what you can truly achieve, who you can truly become.
